Job Description We are seeking a Construction Data Specialist to join our innovation team. This role combines the skills of a data analyst and construction consultant, an essential role to enable a breakthrough approach to construction. The ideal candidate will manage and analyze project data, ensuring its accuracy and usefulness in decision-making processes. You will be instrumental in translating complex data sets into actionable insights for project optimization, cost savings, and enhanced performance. Your construction knowledge will guide the application of data insights in a practical, construction-focused context.
Job Responsibilities & Requirements Essential Functions: - Data Management: Collect, input, and maintain project data, ensuring accuracy and integrity in our databases.
- Data Analysis: Organize and analyze data across multiple projects to identify trends, efficiencies, and areas for improvement in construction processes. Provide data-driven recommendations to the project management team.
- Reporting: Develop and present regular reports on project metrics, progress, and forecasts, making complex data understandable for non-technical stakeholders.
- Consultation: Use construction expertise to advise on the practical application of data insights, enhancing project planning, execution, and outcomes.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, and construction teams to ensure data is effectively integrated into all phases of construction projects.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and contribute to the development of data management protocols and systems.
- Develops and maintains the data dictionary including a detailed catalog or repository of data elements, including their definitions, attributes, and metadata providing comprehensive information about each data element, such as its name, description, data type, length, format, and source.
- Support development and maintain data governance standards and policies
- Collaborates with technical team to implement data schema and data governance and policies
- Responsible for data integrity, robustness, accuracy, completeness, and consistency
Position Qualifications Education and Experience: The expected educational background for a role with these responsibilities typically includes a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as:
- A degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science or Data Management,
- Advanced degree in data science, data management or information technology preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the construction industry in roles related to data management, material specification, procurement, project management, etc
- Solid understanding of construction processes, terminology, and project management principles.
- Proven experience in data analysis and management, with a strong preference for experience in the construction industry.
- Proven experience in cost consulting, quantity surveying, or a similar role within the construction industry, with a preference for experience in modular construction.
Skills: - Proficient in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, SQL) and construction management software.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
- Estimation: Prepare accurate cost estimates during different stages of project development. Utilize historical data, modular construction techniques, and market trends to forecast project costs.
- Deep understanding of construction processes, materials, and market trends, with an emphasis on modular construction techniques
- Value Engineering: Collaborate with project teams to recommend value engineering options that optimize costs while maintaining design integrity and sustainability goals.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present data and findings clearly to diverse audiences.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Technical Collaboration: strong collaboration skills to work effectively with technical teams in implementing data schema, data governance, and software requirements.
