The Spice House is looking for personable Spice Merchants (Retail Sales Associates) who know about and enjoy food & cooking, and have the ability to share this knowledge with our customers. The ideal candidate will have retail experience and strong customer service skills. Employees will be scheduled 2-4 shifts/week, between the hours of 9am-6pm, weekends included.

Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service in a specialty food retail environment
• Warmly welcome customers and assist them throughout their store visit
• Build rapport through conversation and honest recommendations about our spice products based around the customers preferences, needs and desires
• Complete customer orders through our POS and Web pickup system.
• Collaborate with fellow team members to keep the sales floor area and displays clean, organized, and restocked as directed by management
• Assist in maintaining the back stock room and setting up merchandise displays on the sales floor

• Minimum 1 year retail experience and/or relatable experience preferred
• Friendly, outgoing demeanor with a strong commitment to customer service - You genuinely like to connect with people!
• Ability to express oneself clearly and persuasively when connecting with customers and making sales
• Calm, professional and able to problem solve
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds, walk and stand for extended periods of time
• Must be willing to work weekends
• Willing to work between 8-20 hours per week, with varying shifts between 9am-6pm, weekends included.
• Passion for food and flavor is a must!

Reports to: General Manager

Classification: Hourly, Non-Exempt (Employees must adhere to the assigned work schedule and be at the assigned station in the store at the start of their shift)
