ABOUT THE ROLE: - Learn and apply basic brokerage operational knowledge regarding how GEODIS moves freight. This includes knowledge related to modes of transportation, geography and the fundamental aspects of our TMS (MercuryGate)
- Provide assistance to the Carrier Operations Team to vet third-party carriers and set them up with in the RMIS platform
- Contact carriers for daily tracking of in-transit shipments and updating TMS system accordingly
- Ensuring carriers are aware of their appointment times or delivery windows at shippers and receivers
- Determine carrier ETAs for pickup and delivery, flagging any potentially late arrivals to carrier and customer sales reps
- Enter valuable information into the TMS system according to standard operating procedures (dispatching - loaded & empty verification - in transit updates)
- Retrieve Proof of Delivery (POD's) from third-party carriers as necessary
- Resolve and trouble-shoot for any issues arising during the life cycle of a shipment
- Escalate all issues to Carrier or Customer Sales Reps in a timely manner when necessary
- Provide additional ad-hoc information to carriers as requested, or forward additional carrier requests or concerns to carrier sales rep if necessary
- Other duties as required and assigned
Requirements: - Previous freight brokerage experience preferred
- Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours including afternoons, nights, weekends and potentially holidays as needed
- MS Office computer skills
- Ability to work well independently, occasionally with minimal supervision, and as part of a team
- Ability to consistently follow existing processes, develops new processes, and maintains required standards, and work with the team to improve them
- Exceptional customer service focus and skills
- Must have a drive to succeed, confidence and superior verbal communication skills
- Organizational and scheduling skills
- Strong negotiation skills
