Job Description
Marine Insulators are responsible for applying insulation and coverings to piping and machinery used in water systems, air conditioning, refrigeration, and steam machinery, as well as to bulkheads and overheads. This insulation work ensures that ship systems operate at peak efficiency and that ship personnel remain comfortable and safe from exposure to extreme temperatures. Marine Insulators become proficient with hand tools such as knives, wire cutters, saws, and tape measures. They handle and apply various materials, including rubber, fiberglass hullboard, fiberglass or calcium silicate pipe sections, fiberglass tape/cloth, adhesives, and Tempmatt.
