PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Health Educator will be responsible for a range of training and educational activities aimed at populations in which health disparities exist. These activities include but are not limited to conducting community based health educational screening/presentations/ and programs in a variety of community settings such as schools, faith institutions, senior centers, and other community based organizations. The Health Educator refers clients to community resources as appropriate This position involves working with opinion leaders and clients in multiple neighborhoods and venues. The position includes, but is not limited to the following essential functions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Please list the fundamental job duties of the position (approx 3-5). - Teaches health education programs consistent with identified needs of the communities served by TJUH.
- Assists in the evaluation and revision of health education programs to ensure that teaching methods, materials and content area are appropriate to the learning needs of the diverse populations and communities served by TJUH
- Assumes responsibility for the scheduling of health screening and prevention events by ensuring adequate staffing, equipment, room location and adequacy of necessary resources and supplies.
- Updates program manuals and teaching materials utilizing appropriate education and learning theory. Maintains health programs files and program records. Maintains and updates program files. Assists with the preparation of statistical reports and program summaries.
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the Hospital.
Qualifications EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS :
Masters Degree in Public Health or related field preferred EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
Three years of relevant experience in health education
Conditions of Employment Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.
Conditions of Employment Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jefferson's clinical entities or at the University.
