Position Title: Forklift Operator

Employment Status: Non-Exempt/Seasonal

Department: Cooler

Position Reports to: Facility Manager

Responsible for driving a forklift to unload pallets of fruit from field trucks and moving them into the warehouse for cooling. Restack partial pallets of fresh fruit as directed. Must be able to load pallets of fresh fruit onto semi-trucks accurately & safely and ensure the truck driver is not allowed in the trailer. This person must be able to drive safely in proximity with foot traffic and other forklift traffic.

• Operates the forklift to transport pallets of Fruit and other materials as directed.
• Refuel forklift as needed
• Must be able to operate wireless equipment.
• Must be accurate in counts.
• Able to work varying shifts, holidays & weekends.
• Must understand the proper and safe use of a forklift.
• Able to follow supervisor’s instructions
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
• Follow general safety rules & forklift safety program
• Assist Fresh Tech operator as needed.
• Regular attendance required.
• General Maintenance

• Valid California Driver’s License
• Experience in safe forklift operation
• Must be capable of passing forklift certification program provided by New West Cooling

• Must be able to lift 40 Lbs
• Operator must be able to see or hear obstacles such as other moving equipment, other personnel, and truck drivers in the operator’s vicinity.
• Must be able to read gauges, shift gears, depress pedals, and operate heavy equipment safely.
• Must be able to climb up onto and down from forklift.
• Must be able to work in Cold environments for long periods of time.
