Job Description

The iconic Hotel del Coronado is looking for an Assistant General Manager to join the Food & Beverage team at Serea! Join one of the last surviving wooden Victorian beach resorts in the world and after a $400M renovation and expansion, the resort is more stunning than ever.

Located on Coronado Island just minutes from Downtown San Diego, this 28-acre property was built in 1888 and has over 750 rooms (to include cottages and villas), 65,000 square feet of banquet space, and 10 food and beverage outlets. This includes 4 restaurants, 2 bars, food truck, marketplace, ice cream shop, and in-room dining.

In this role, you will manage a team of 30+ Front of House Team Member, report to the General Restaurant Manager, and assist in our various food and beverage outlets. Experience in a union environment and luxury hotels is a plus.

The ideal candidate must be an exceptional leader with a passion for creating extraordinary experiences! At least 2 years of restaurant management experience in an upscale dining environment is required. Strong beverage knowledge and prior experience working with a hospitality management group is a plus.

  • Shift: Various - must be available to weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

  • Pay Rate:The annual salary range for this role is $68,000 - $75,000 and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.

What will I be doing?

As our Assistant Restaurant General Manager, you are responsible for managing restaurant operations to deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience. An Assistant Restaurant General Manager will also be required to manage, train, and develop team members and work within all budgeted guidelines. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Interviews, selects, trains, supervises, counsels, disciplines and participates in the
    evaluation of restaurant staff employees for the efficient operation of the restaurant.
  • Schedules and directs staff in their work assignments.
  • Responsible for ensuring that restaurant complies with sanitation and safety standards for
    guests and employees. Responsible for ensuring that all equipment is in working order.
  • Visually inspects and takes corrective action to ensure that facilities in restaurant look
    appealing and attractive to guests. Provides guidance for improvement and implements
    necessary adjustments. Oversees work orders to ensure repairs and maintenance of facility
    are completed on a timely basis.
  • Manages and monitors product quality and guest satisfaction in restaurant. Responsible for
    ensuring that food quality is consistent, appealing, and prepared to guest specifications.
  • Moves throughout facility and kitchen areas to visually monitor and take corrective action to
    ensure food quality and service standards are met.
  • Provides guidance for improvement and implements necessary adjustments.
  • Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on quality of service and food in outlet. Investigates and resolves
    guest complaints in a timely manner.
  • Participates in marketing efforts of restaurants, creates menu ideas, surveys competition
    and reports food trends and assists in preparation of specials.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures that relate to the
    restaurant as well as all local, state and federal laws and regulations.
