The Arizona Student Unions is looking for talented Alcohol Servers to join our team.
YOUR ROLE

As an Alcohol Server in the Catering & Banquet Operations Department, you will greet guests, answer questions about alcohol, recommend menu items, and prepare/serve beverages. This position plays a key role in creating memorable experiences for our clients by greeting guests, answering questions regarding alcohol selections and menu items and creating a variety of beverages for each event. An engaging and friendly personality is essential, as well as being efficient, observant, knowledgeable, and personable.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Welcoming guests, reading and listening to people to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations, and taking drink orders. Reviewing event details prior to event start time to ensure planning and product is in place and prepared for all needs as outlined on event orders. Selecting and mixing ingredients, garnishing glasses, and serving beverages to guests. Checking identification to ensure guests are the legal age to purchase alcohol.
  • Participant in developing new cocktail recipes. Taking inventory and ordering supplies to ensure bars are well stocked.
  • Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register.
  • Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment. Ensures safe handling of food, alcohol and equipment.
  • Handles customer complaints, actively resolves internal problems wherever possible, and follows through with necessary actions and effective communications.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Skills in understanding bartender tools and techniques.
  • Skilled in problem solving.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with department managers, team members, and guests.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
  • Ability to remember, recite, and promote the variety of menu items.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift/transport a maximum of 50lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy with prior driving experience upon employment.
  • Must meet state minimum age to serve alcohol.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
